The Jury
The EACA Euro Effies® Jury consists of senior professionals representing a variety of communication and marketing disciplines.

Dr Olaf Göttgens, Vice President Brand-Communications, Mercedes-Benz Cars will chair the Jury this year. Dr Göttgens joined Mercedes-Benz Cars at Daimler AG, in January 2006, where he is now responsible for brand management, Dr Göttgens was Chief Executive Officer for BBDO Germany and BBDO Consulting Europe.
Dr Göttgens studied at the University of Saarland where he graduated in Business Administration with an emphasis on marketing, trade and information systems.

Hans Andersson
Senior Partner - Forsman&Bodenfors (Goteborg, Sweden)
Hans has the overall responsibility of a number of the key agency clients and national businesses including: telecom operator Tele2, SCA diaper brand ‘Libero’, the Swedish alcohol monopoly ‘Systembolaget’, the morning paper ‘Göteborgs-Posten’ and the national public service broadcaster ‘Sveriges Radio’.
Hans is also currently the CEO and chairman of the reknowned identity design agency ‘Happy’.
Bas Boterman
Creative Director Copy - De Combinatie van Factoren
Boterman started his career in 1997 at 220V, the former below-the-line unit of Saatchi & Saatchi Amsterdam. In 2002 he joined De Combinatie van Factoren - one of the leading Dutch brand activation agencies- where he was appointed Creative Director at the beginning of this year. Boterman won several national and international awards e.g. Esprix, Effie and IMC European Awards.
Bogdana Butnar
Senior Strategic Planner - McCann Romania
Bogdana is the Senior Strategic Planner of McCann Romania, the country’s largest ad agency, having previously worked as Strategic Planner for Headvertising, a creative boutique in Bucharest. With an MA in Marketing Communications from London Metropolitan University, and an uncanny interest in all things digital, Bogdana lists among her achievements acting as Brand Manager for Romania’s largest private oil company, freelancing for London-based Karakter and writing a complex blog on marketing. She is Deputy Chair of APG Romania and sometimes speaks in public, but does so reluctantly.
Ryan Cameron
Integrated Marketing Manager - Microsoft
Ryan Cameron, Global Advertising Lead, Microsoft Corporation joined Microsoft in July 2004 where he oversees corporate advertising efforts and global agency management across EMEA. Ryan studied at the University of Washington in the US and has worked at agencies such as Y&R, DDB Seattle and Deutsch LA.
Andreas Moellmann
Head of Planning - DDB London
Andreas has seen places. From his hometown Berlin he ventured to Springer & Jacoby Hamburg, BBDO Hong Kong and Shanghai, Saatchi & Saatchi Frankfurt, cayenne/Dentsu Amsterdam and even managed to set up his own company Robotandthe8ball.
On his journey he worked for Mercedes-Benz, Bayer, ICI Dulux, Frito-Lay, P&G, Canon and others as account director, strategic director, head of strategy and member of the management team - mostly on regional or global level. He recently moved on to London and is now strategic director for Philips Global at DDB.
Eiríkur Már Guðleifsson

Eirikur works for H:N marketcommunication, one of the leading advertising effectiveness agency in Iceland, were he has been for over two years. At H:N marketcommunication Eirikur has worked with some of Iceland’s fastest growing companies in strategic planning in Iceland as well as working on strategic market analysing project for entering into the Asian market. Eirikur has a BA degree in Political science, a MA in Politics, as well as being in the process of finishing an MSc degree in International business.
Bobby Hui

Bobby Hui is international planning director with a remit to provide strategic leadership on multi-national accounts. Prior to this role bobby was the head of strategic planning at saatchi london and is the only european director appointed to the worldwide strategy board. He joined saatchi in 1999 as a group planning director, writing strategies that resurrected and propelled the fortunes of Carlsberg, Comet, 3i, Toyota and Hennesy cognac.
Greta Koleva-Hikova
Client Service Director - Graffiti BBDO
Greta Koleva-Hikova started her professional career in mass communication, in 1995 at Graffiti BBDO Sofia and in 1999 became Group Account Director, managing a portfolio of key agency accounts. One her major achievements at that time, is the acknowledgement for the development of the most efficient campaign in Eastern Europe, for HVB Bank Biochim.
Since 2005, Greta Koleva-Hikova has been heading the Client Service Department at Graffiti BBDO and is responsible for the strategy standards and new business achievements of the agency
She was a Jury member of the first Effie Bulgaria festival in 2007.
Francoise Jehin

Françoise Jehin is Account Planner at Wide and believes in the importance of relevant, consistent long term communication strategies in order to protect the brand’s identity.
She participated in the European strategic planning board for important brands such as Renault, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, and so on.
Jehin has 19 years of experience in a large range of markets (Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Finances, Automotive, Leisure, ...).
She participated in the founding of Account Planning Group in Belgium.
Katerina Kontogeorgou Gilbert
Research & Planning Director – Cream
Katerina is the Strategic Planning Director of Cream Athens. She has a wealth of experience at both a local and global level and within small and large agencies working as account handler and planner. In her current role as planner she strives for high standars in terms of both creative and strategic and believes that great creative work needs to be rooted in solid strategic thinking in order to be effective. Above all, she enjoys working in advertising and doing what she does well.
Jo Manser
Planning Director - OMD International
Joanna Manser is Head of Strategy at OMD International in London. Over the past two years she has led the roll-out of OMD’s new planning process in the International office, set up their idea generation / facilitation unit and evolved their Insight offering. She gets involved across OMD’s clients including Sony, McDonalds, Vodafone, BlackBerry, GE, Elizabeth Arden and Footlocker.
Before OMD, she worked at Naked Communications UK, as Strategy Director on Honda and Boots the Chemist. Previous to that, she started out her agency life at MindShare as a planner on Volvo, Mazda and the launch of 3 mobile network.
Jürgen Alexander Meyer

Jürgen began his career as Product Designer working for clients such as Bosch, Panaonic, Fisher Price and Deutsche Telekom. In 1995, he joined the brand management of Procter & Gamble, Germany where he was responsible for the conception and implementation of the complete marketing-mix for oral care brands ‘Blend-a-med’ and ‘Blend-a-dent’.
In 1998, Jürgen switched to the agency side to become Senior Strategic Planer at Springer&Jacoby, Hamburg where he developed brand and communication strategies for a broad range of categories and clients such as Mercedes-Benz. Two years later he co-founded LUCY Planning which quickly became one of Germany’s biggest planning agencies.
In February 2005 Jürgen joined Draftfcb to become Chief Planning Officer and Member of the Board handling clients such as AUDI, NIVEA, Eucerin, Lindt, Sony, Deutsche Messe and Motorola.

Joaquín Peláez

Started his career in his hometown, Madrid, and moved to Amsterdam to work on the European Nissan business at TBWA/ Hakuhodo. Joaquín handled worldwide accounts such as Wella, Alfa Romeo and Seat at BBDO worldwide (Düsseldorf/ Rio de Janeiro), Red Cell (Turin) and Bates (Barcelona). He founded Springer & Jacoby in Barcelona, Spain and Client Service Director at McCann, Madrid.

Els began her career at Saatchi&Saatchi and has worked in agencies Young&Rubicam, O&M and Duval Guillaume where she also won 2 Effie awards for Senseo coffee pads (1 Belgian and 1 European).
Past accounts Els has managed include: Oil of Ulay, Devos Lemmens, Dexia bank, Danone, Feeling magazine, Spa, Douwe Egberts, Quick, Senseo, Lee Jeans, Bacardi, Plan International, Nutricia, Pétrole Hahn, De Tijd and VTM TV channel.
Els is involved with the Account Planning Group (APG) whose misson is to constantly stimulate the level of strategic planning in Belgium.
Martin Smith

After a degree in psychology, Martin began his career as a market researcher before moving into planning, first at Bates, then at Satchi & Satchi’s and now a planning director at Mother.
During his three years at BBH Martin has combined retail and brand thinking on clients like Woolworths KFC, Baileys, Bushmills, Sony Ericsson and, most recently Vodafone.
Martin has won three IPA Effectiveness awards (although as yet the gold eluldes him) and is leading an initiative to bring the commercial agenda closer to the communications development process in Mother.

Hans Täckenström
Brand Director - RBK
Hans Täckenström has worked in branding and business development for more than 20 years, starting as Account Director in an agency.
In 1995 he became Managing Director of Thörn & Täckenström which merged with J. Walter Thompson seven years later.
Hans is now Senior Adviser at RBK Communication AB, is author of 3 books on marketing, frequently appears in the Swedish press as branding expert and teaches on the subject of branding.

Luc Basier
Head of Planning – CRM Company Group
With an education in ethno-linguistics, Luc Basier started as a researcher, working on a study of urban anthropology on youth culture.
Following a break to set up a record label, Humain Production, Luc moved to Publicis Conseil for five years and then DDB Paris, as a Senior Planner. His portfolio included FNAC and Volkswagen.
His international experience was acquired whilst working in the UK-based BMP-DDB international team and in 1998, he was recruited by Bruce Haines and Tim Delaney, to launch Leagas Delaney in France – the agency responsible for the launch of the adidas campaign for the 1998 French Worldcup Soccer Team.
The agency developed its own client portfolio becoming, within 3 years, a medium-sized agency and receiving numerous Creative and Efficiency Awards for its work across all medias.
Ogilvy Paris recruited him in 2004 as Deputy Managing Director 360° and he is currently developping a 360° independent brand consultancy.
Today, Luc is Head of Planning within the CRM Company Group, based in Paris.

Chris Clarke

Chris has been at the forefront of the digital industry since the late 90s. In 2000 as a UK founder of pioneering digital agency Abel & Baker, Chris brought a new level of creative excellence to the nascent digital industry and won a number of awards including Campaign Direct, Revolution, Clio and Cannes Cyberlions for clients such as Virgin Mobile, The AA and MTV.
In 2002 Abel & Baker was bought by leading web agency Wheel. While at Wheel, first as Creative Director of Abel & Baker then Executive Creative Director of Wheel, Chris helped turn the creative reputation of the agency around, delivering award winning work and driving an extensive change management process to make Wheel an ideas led creative business. Key client achievements at Wheel include winning BT, the global roll out of Brahma beer, and bringing prestigious clients such as ABSOLUT Vodka and Sony PlayStation Europe on board. Chris also oversaw numerous corporate website projects for clients such as Allied Domecq, United Biscuits and Unilever for whom Wheel managed the global rollout of Unilever.com in 26 languages.
Since joining Digitas London in April 2006, Chris has re-invigorated the creative product, winning new business with Vauxhall, Shell and HP, rolling out a network of offices in Europe and winning a Campaign Digital Award.
Chris is a multi-award winning creative with Cyberlions, LIAA, Clio, Revolution, Campaign Direct, Campaign Digital and D&AD awards to his name. As a founder in the UK of digital pioneers Abel & Baker, Chris was responsible for some of the first Rich Media and viral work done in this market.

Dr Goll is currently at JGM Consults’, Marketing Consultancy handling Strategy, Branding, Marketing Programmes and Performance Measurement.
Jérôme Guilbert

Jérôme Guilbert is the general manager of McCann Paris since 2006.
Before that, he spent 11 years as BETC EURO RSCG as Head of Planning, during which time BETC became the #1 advertising agency in France.
His client portfolio has included; Air France, Carrefour, BNP Paribas, the Paris Metro, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Vivendi.
His favourite work is a silent 12-second sanitary alert about a “mass consumption product found to contain acetone, ammonia, cyanide, and mercury“.
The campaign terrified the whole country and triggered one million calls and later went on to win the Grand Prix EFFIE 2003, for having dropped the tobacco sales by 6%.

Working as part of the Global Solutions management team in London, AMH has helped design, create and integrate our services to establish a 120 strong team delivering account management, strategic planning, digital, online, sponsorship, event management, content creation and retail expertise for our global clients.
Anne-Marie had joint responsibility for developing and growing our Global Solutions hubs across EMEA. She also headed up our communication planning competency across the region, leading the global planning community and was a key driver in our global approach to planning, R&D and training.
Anne-Marie has just taken on a new client facing role in Global Solutions, she will be leading the Visa Europe business and developing our relationship with Mercedes-Benz globally.

Laura James

Laura James was appointed Media Editor at WARC in October 2007 after 20 years experience working in media and advertising.
Previously she was Media Director at PHD with client responsibilities across a wide range of major brands including HSBC, First Direct, Warner Bros, Weetabix, Toshiba, Smith and Nephew, Bayer, Daihatsu.
Earlier assignments included four years as Press Director at PHD (1997-2001) where she handled negotiations for all client spend in magazines and newspapers.
From 1989 to 1994 she was a media planner at GGT, Clients included Rothmans (Marlboro), Lurpak, Scott, COI, Mirror Group.
Her career began at WCRS as a planner/buyer in 1986.
Laura has a BSc from Royal Holloway College and lives in Marlow, Bucks.
John Lynn
President & CEO - Grey Group
John has built his career by building brands and businesses above, below and through the line.
In December 2006 John was appointed President & CEO of Grey Group Spain where he is responsible for all Grey advertising and integrated marketing services companies in Spain.
Under his leadership the group has created a strong digital division as part of its integrated 360º communications strategy; Grey has become a top 10 creative agency for the first time in its history; and new business has gathered momentum with wins including SEAT’s digital business, Mitsubishi electric and the launch of Público, Spain’s newest national daily newspaper.
John joined Grey in 2003 to develop the company's marketing service organisation across EMEA. Within three years, he had unified Grey's direct, interactive, promotion and data management companies and re-launched them under the G2 brand. He attracted new generation talent and major regional clients including Kodak, Sara Lee and SEAT.
Prior to Grey, John headed up MRM (McCann Relationship Marketing) Group Spain. Tasked to set up a competitive relationship marketing group he helped turn a small operation into the fourth DM agency network in the market. He was further promoted to European Regional Director of MRM Partners Europe where he managed the MRM network in the region for three years increasing profitability by 30 percent.
Before that, John rose through the ranks at OgilvyOne Madrid to become Managing Director. During his tenure he was invited to run the EXPO’92 account from OgilvyOne Madrid. For two years, John co-ordinated all international advertising and direct marketing activity for the Expo including planning, development and implementation of press, specialist press and direct marketing in over 28 markets. This resulted in DMA ECHO awards and achieved the spectacular target of over 40 million visits to the Seville Expo site.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, John is a regular speaker throughout Europe, the US and Latin America on issues such as key communications trends, implications of a digital strategy, holistic communications, loyalty and relationship marketing. Platforms include the London Business School, Direct Marketing Associations in the US, Italy, Spain and Nordic markets, and the Cannes Advertising Festival.

Denis Maigray is associate director and founding partner of the Wide Group specialised in brand management, communication strategies and consumer research. Denis has an in depth experience of strategic marketing, advising clients in various industries amongst which leaders in FMCG in several Europeans countries. Before launching Wide in 1999, Denis was Brand Marketing Manager of Danone in Belgium, behind the successful launch of Actimel in Europe with its team.

Agathi Plota
Managing Director - Tribal DDB Athens
Agathi is running the Tribal DDB office in Athens since April 2007, when the network launched business in the Greek market. Prior to this, Agathi was the Managing Director of Rapp Collins Hellas for 13 years.
She studied law in the University of Athens and attended the CEDEP Program at Insead, between 1991 and 1993. After a few years in the marketing sector of large Media and Broadcasting Corporations, she discovered the fascinating world of effective and measurable brand communication through direct marketing, empowered by customer insights, data and CRM tools.
And now.. the digital and web 2.0 era.
Agathi Plota is Head of the Effie Hellas 2008 Organizing Committee, held in Athens in June.
Dickjan Poppema
Former CEO - BBDO Düsseldorf
At BBDO Dickjan managed the economic and creative turnaround of the Agency during the past 4 years. He and his team won more creative and effectiveness awards for the agency than ever before thus strenghening the agency-client partnership and gaining new clients.
Dickjan started his career in Consumer Marketing at Kraft Foods in Bremen, Germany. After 8 years he moved to assume the overall marketing responsibility for Europe's largest Tour Operator named TUI, in Hannover, Germany. His first steps on the agency side of the business were with Leo Burnett in Frankfurt.
Dickjan has decided to leave BBDO after 5 years, of which 4 succesful years as CEO, and he is currently evaluating new options on the client side of the equation.
David Pugh-Jones

As Creative Strategist for Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions, David’s role is to be the evangelist for creative offerings and the strategist for creativity online. Alongside this David regularly presents to key clients and agencies on the future of digital advertising.
David successfully worked in this role across the UK market for the past 2 and half years before recently taking on the challenge across the EMEA region in understanding the media landscape, the creative agencies ecosystem and our clients advertising demands, ensuring Microsoft is competitive with client concepts, ideas and solutions and continuing to drive and change the creativity online perception.
Since joining Microsoft in October 2005 David has collaborated with numerous clients, advertising and creative agencies in evangelising innovation and creativity online. As the product expert on rich media best practice and technical feasibility with external partners, David’s focus is to act as a creative consultant advising on advertising solutions across the Microsoft digital portfolio including MSN, Windows Live, Xbox and Office.
Prior to joining Microsoft, David was Director of Operations at Handbag.com where he led the successful implementation of an in-house operations, creative and account management team and was integral in the launch of handbag.com’s sister site, getlippy.com in March 2004.
David began his career in Publishing in 1995 and since then he has gained over 9 years experience of online advertising.
Gurdeep Puri
Head of Effectiveness - Leo Burnett London
Gurdeep brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Euro Effies with his background in econometrics and effectiveness. He is part of the IPA Value of Advertising Group and the Euro Effies Consultation Group.
Head of Effectiveness at Leo Burnett, Gurdeep has scooped numerous award winning papers for leading brands: Herbal Essences, Nintendo, Daz and Discreet in Euro Effies and IPA Effectiveness Award competitions.
He has also represented the IPA and the Euro Effies at industry level internationally over the years.
Marco Rimini
Worldwide Head of Communications Planning - Mindshare World
Having graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics in 1985 Marco spent several years as an account planner before becoming head of account planning for Euro RSCG working on Peugeot.
Marco then went to Milan to discover his roots and study for an MBA.
Afterwards he joined CIA Media Network the independent media company as head of planning and became deputy managing director and member of the UK group board.
At CIA he worked across a range of clients including Unilever, LloydsTSB and the launch of Daewoo.
His most recent position prior to MindShare was as director of strategy and development at JWT London where he was responsible for all the account planners and the knowledge centre. He worked across the range of JWT business including Kraft, Kellogg, Vodafone, Shell and Bandq as well as being the strategic lead on the WPP HSBC assignment.
Marco was the convenor of judges for the IPA effectiveness awards in 2000 and became a fellow of the IPA in 2002. He joined MindShare in 2007 to develop the communications planning practice by reuniting the craft skills of account and media planning and applying them to the digital age.
Marco is available for comment on general media developments across media owners and agencies, especially media planning and strategy issues.
Michael Trautmann
Managing Partner - Kempertrautmann GmbH
Michael has worked as manager of Bossard Consultants and advised top-class brands such as Porsche AG and Bertelsmann Entertainment Group.
He was founding director of Springer & Jacoby International and a member of the agency’s holding board and responsible for all DaimlerChrysler accounts.
Michael was Head of Global Marketing at Audi AG, Ingolstadt and one of the top management group at Volkswagen AG and is currently co-founder and Managing Director of kempertrautmann gmbh in Hamburg, two posts he has held since July 2004.
In December 2004 “Media & Marketing Europe“ nominated Michael as one of the “Top 40 under 40“ in Europe.
Yves Van Lent
Chief Strategic Officer – Bananas
Yves started his career as market researcher and became passionate about how facts&figures can be turned into great insights.
In order to visualise these insights he needed to switch to advertising. After several years running his own local agency and managing DDB/MPRC he joined the Bananas Benelux Communication group to become Chief Strategic Officer.
Being a Bill Bernbach addict Yves strongly believes in the power of better ideas for better results. Most of the winning campaigns at the Euro Effies display these great insights and this often combined with outstanding creations.
